9 Month Update

Today was Astoia's 9 month well baby appointment. She weighed in at 16.4 pounds (10th percentile), 26.5 inches long (10-25th percentile) and her head circumference was 40mm (50th percentile). I'm not too sure about the whole head measurement. Her head is pretty small compared to other kiddos I see but okay.

There are no shots at 9 months although we did get her follow up flu shot. They also checked her iron levels via pricking her big toe and squeezing out blood. She actually handled this better than the flu shot. She did pretty well through Dr. Katz's exam once she realized he too could make funny noises like Mommy and Daddy. He was really entertaining and I was pretty sure she agreed since she was staring at him most of the checkup (although he is kinda cute so maybe she's already noticing this as well).

Dr. Katz said we could be done with pureed foods at this point and could move on to more solid things. I mentioned I'm still making my own food and have been chunking things up for awhile now. She actually prefers the chunky food over pureed food at this point. He said that will continue to happen since she's becoming a 'big girl' now (I almost died at this point, where had my baby gone). He also mentioned that we should start using the word "NO" when she does something she is not supposed to do. I almost laughed..doesn't he know we have a daughter who loves to put dry cat food into the water dish, we've been using NO for awhile now? Although she knows the word NO, her knowing what the word actually means is debatable. He said to tell her once and then remove her from the situation. No use in telling her more than once at this age.

So overall things are going great. Thanks to Nana's really cool sewing machine we made a shirt that fits in with our appointment quite well. She was the hit of the doctor's office this afternoon. Every one had to get a look at the shirt!

Next checkup is 12 months! Unbelievable!
