How Things Change

Tonight we went out to dinner with friends. I often think about how we have the BEST friends in the entire world. Tonight it was fun to see just how much has changed since we all became friends. For the most part we all started out without children. Now the conversations revolve our our children, the seating arrangements now include a children's table, and how even the men are now talking about being spit up on.

We also had the first 'get together' with Astoria's future husband, Nathanial, who was born just a month after Astoria. Stephanie, Nathanial's mom, and I decided they would be wed just about the time we found out she was going to have a little boy. As Sara mentioned...at least we know that we'll already love the in laws!

A couple of pictures of them 'together'. The first picture cracks me up because it looks like she's checking him out, haha!

I guess you could say the first 'date' went well!

She will call her Mommy...

Taken from a friend's FB post. It made me tear up very quickly due to the grandparents Astoria will never meet in life. I like to think she met them as she was asking God these questions.

Once upon a time, there was a child ready to be born.
So one day she asked God:
"They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?
"So God replied, "Among the many angels, I chose one for you. She will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

"But tell me, here in Heaven, I don't have to do anything else but sing and smile, that's enough for me to be happy."
God stated, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel your angel's love and be happy."

"And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me, if I don't know the language that men talk?"
God replied, " Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "your angel will place your hands together and teach you how to pray."

"I've heard that on earth there are bad men. Who will protect me?"
God stated, "Your angel will defend you, even if it means risking its life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."God stated, "Your angel will always talk to you about me and will teach you the way for you to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from earth could be heard, and the child, in a hurry, asked softly:

"Oh God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
God answered, "Your angel's name is of no importance; you will call your angel Mommy."

Just because she's cute!

My Newest Creation...

I saw these at Third Mondays in McKinney and thought surely I could make them...I can! Fabric on top and a washcloth on bottom to help wipe that icky mouth after sweet potatoes! Now she can have bibs that match every outfit she owns...assuming of course I had that much time. Instead we'll likely sport a few with the colors we typically wear. This fabric is left over from making decorations in her nursery. So cute!

One word...SNOT!

How much snot can be produced in one little bitty body? Based on my inspections over the past four days..at least a gallon a day. Enough said on how this past week has gone. Just in time for school to start of course.

In All of Our Cuteness

I found the cutest tutu at Third Monday Trade Days in McKinney and we had to sport the new look for the camera. She loved running her fingers through it and kept trying to eat it as well.
Daycare has gone good so far. She still isn't sleeping much while she's there but she's going to bed like a champ and sleeping through the night so what more could I ask for. We went to physical therapy today and they are forming a group of torticollis kids who will be doing PT together on Thursday nights. This is the only way they could get us all in since we all need evening appointments. I'm hoping this helps since she tends to be a bit fussy when the PT holds her. This way I'll be holding her most of the time with the other moms. I can't wait until we're cured. I only notice the tilt when she's tired but it's the strengthening exercises that are so important now. Thank goodness she's likeing tummy time better (assuming she doesn't roll over).

August happenings and how we love our pears!

Today was my first day of staff development and Astoria's first day of daycare. I knew it was going to be harder on me than her. Sure enough she was all smiles when I left and I was crying as I walked out. She had a great first day, however, she didn't take a nap..AT ALL! So tonight should be interesting. I'm just happy she made it through. Here is a picture of her this morning as we got ready for 'school'.
'First Day of School'

Actually liking the car seat now.

Daddy's idea of a good time in the tub.

Aunt Mere's idea of bumpers to protect her from Olivia.

Another of Aunt Mere's ideas to keep Olivia and Kylie away.

Look how long she's gotten!

Nana Wins!

Loving our pears.

First Time For Cereal!

I jumped the gun a little bit. Everything says no cereal until 4 months..well it was only 6 days before she turned 4 months. We gave Astoria her first cereal on my 30th, July 31, 2009. She really liked it! The experience wasn't even too messy.

Meredith, Olivia, and my mom came down for my birthday and Olivia thought she needed a bath with the baby. Amazingly enough she didn't squeeze her or anything even though they were this close together.

On her 4 month checkup Astoria weighed in at 11 lbs 10oz and 24 inches long. Shes in the 10th percentile for weight and the 25-50th percentile for height, just a little thing. Dr. Katz told us we could start food at anytime (oops) and even steak if we chose to. I'm not sure about that. I think I may want her to keep with the cereal for awhile, I'm worried if she tries steak first she'll demand good tasting food all of the time...haha...just kidding....sort of!
